Nicholas A. Nayak was born in Mumbai. After completing his surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA, he started practicing in Oceana, West Virginia. He began practicing Emergency Medicine in 1975 and retired from that field in 1996. In 1992, Dr. Nayak began his research career in Clinical Studies with his wife, Dr. Anjuli S. Nayak in Bloomington-Normal, IL and is still engaged in this area of practice. Drs. Nayak have completed over 600 clinical trials and published over 250 papers. She completed her residency in psychiatry from the University of Cincinnati 1991 and has been in private practice in Dayton, Ohio since. She is Clinical Associate Professor at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine. She is Director of Behavioral services at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She also directs behavior healthcare units in nursing facilities in Dayton, Ohio. She is a Diplomat in the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is also Board certified in Geriatric Psychiatry and Clinical Psychopharmacology. Dr. Patel is a leading clinician and educator in the area of Geriatric Psychiatry. She has been the recipient of several awards including the Clinician of the Year award in 2005 from the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry.
